Good morning and welcome to another edition of our Outer Banks beach report. This is Brandon from Seaside Vacations and I snapped the photo above and recorded the video below this morning at 8:30 a.m. at a public beach access around milepost 8 in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Can you believe we are only 26 days away from spring?

Beach Report
The frigid below freezing temperatures are gone, and we’ve been enjoying really nice weather on the Outer Banks all this week. Highs in the mid 60s expected for this afternoon with a good chance of thunderstorms paired with strong winds later today.

Plenty of sunshine this morning and it’s the perfect time to get in a walk on the beach before the rain moves in. This weekend is expected to be a little cooler, however temperatures are expected to remain in the 50s.

Surfing Report
Ocean water temperatures are 40 degrees this morning and surf is about thigh to waist high and semi-choppy. Hopefully this weekend will bring us some better surf. You can get a live look at the wave action in Nags Head by checking out our webcam located just north of Jennette’s Pier.

Fishing Report
It’s the winter time, which means the fishing is typically hit and miss on the Outer Banks. Anglers up and down the coast haven’t been catching much of anything lately with the exception of the abnormally good year of Drum fishing. You don’t typically catch the prized fish this late in February, but surf fisherman have been hooking them left and right.

Thanks for checking out today’s beach report and we hope to see you soon… Have fun!
